  • A Unique Serial Number (EPIC Number): A distinctive alphanumeric code assigned to every individual voter for lifelong identification.

  • Photograph of the Cardholder: A clear, recent passport-sized photo of the citizen printed directly on the front of the card.

  • A Security Hologram: An official hologram containing the respective state or national symbol to verify authenticity and prevent duplication.

  • Name of the Cardholder: The legal full name of the voter, usually printed in both English and the local regional language.

  • Father’s Name of the Cardholder: The legal name of the cardholder's father (or spouse/guardian) for clear genealogical verification.

  • Gender of the Cardholder: The official gender alignment (Male / Female / Third Gender) of the registered individual.

  • Cardholder’s Date of Birth: The exact day, month, and year of birth of the citizen to validate voting eligibility (18+ years of age)

 

Voter ID Card Eligibility

  • Citizenship: The applicant must be a legal citizen of India. Non-citizens or individuals who have acquired citizenship in another country are strictly ineligible.

  • Age Limit: The individual must have attained the age of 18 years on or before the qualifying dates of the revision year. The ECI uses four quarterly qualifying dates for eligibility verification:

    • 1st January

    • 1st April

    • 1st July

    • 1st October

  • Place of Residence: The applicant must be an ordinary resident of the specific polling area or assembly constituency where they intend to register. Enrolling from multiple addresses or constituencies is a legal offense.

  • No Disqualifications: The applicant must not be legally disqualified from entering the electoral roll. Individuals declared of unsound mind by a competent court, or those barred due to corrupt practices and specific election-related offenses, cannot apply.

 

Document Required for New Voter Card Registration

1. Proof of Date of Birth (Age Proof)

To establish that you have completed 18 years of age, you must submit any one of the following officially valid documents:

  • Aadhaar Card: Issued by UIDAI (Most preferred).

  • Birth Certificate: Issued by the competent local municipal body or the Registrar of Births & Deaths.

  • PAN Card: Issued by the Income Tax Department.

  • Driving License: Issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

  • Educational Certificates: Class 10th or Class 12th passing certificates/marksheets issued by CBSE, ICSE, or State Boards, provided they explicitly contain your exact date of birth.

  • Indian Passport: Valid official passport.

2. Proof of Present Ordinary Residence (Address Proof)

To confirm that you are an ordinary resident of the assembly constituency where you are applying, you must provide any one of the following documents (either in your name or in the name of your parents/spouse):

  • Aadhaar Card: With your current residential address.

  • Utility Bills: Water, Electricity, or Piped Gas connection bills linked to that address (the bill must be at least 1 year old to show continuous residence).

  • Bank/Post Office Passbook: Current updated passbook from a Nationalized/Scheduled Bank or Post Office.

  • Indian Passport: Valid passport with the current address mentioned.

  • Property Ownership Records: Revenue Department’s land-owning records, including the official Kisan Bahi.

  • Rental/Lease Agreement: Registered Rent Deed or Lease Deed (in case you are living as a tenant).

  • Sale Deed: Registered property sale deed in your name.

3. Identity Photograph

  • Recent Photograph: One clear, unsigned, passport-sized color photograph ($4.5\text{ cm} \times 3.5\text{ cm}$).

  • Format Requirements: The image must feature a full frontal view of the face with open eyes against a clean white background (JPEG/JPG format, preferably within 2MB).

  

How To Fill Voter ID Card Online Form

  • Visit Official Site: Go directly to the official election portal at voters.eci.gov.in.

  • Create Account: Click "Sign-Up", enter your mobile number and email, and set up a secure password.

  • Log In: Use your registered number, password, and the OTP received on your phone to log into the dashboard.

  • Select Form 6: Click on "New Voter Registration" and open Form 6.

  • Enter Details: Select your State/District, and fill in your name, relative's name, and complete current address.
